The map illustrations the information about alterations took place in layout of the coastal area which is known as Portland between 1980 to 2007. Overall, it can be seen that Pentland developed into a busy commercial coastal town over the years.

To begin with, industrial area was replaced by a swimming pool and a small park towards north-west in 2007. During 1980, only sea was exist on north, but in following years, it was facilitated by yacht Maria. Multi storey car park was constructed on left side of road by shifting from left side. The main road which bisects the city in two parts remained unchanged.

In addition, till 2007 new apartments were constructed on place of car park on north-east. Shops were opened on both sides of road where the grassland used to be. On bottom of shops, there was place for accommodation and new cinema was built on south-west. The greener space used for developing new facilities and amenities.
