The IELTS essay is the second part of the writing section of the IELTS test. The timings for task 2 is of 40 minutes and you have to write 250 words. There is no maximum word count. However, you should write more than 280 words and less than 320 words.

Most of the candidate takes pessimistic view for writing tasks. Like, My writing is not up to the mark and I’m  not in touch with studies so I can’t write as well as I don’t have ideas. My vocabulary is too weak and also have some grammatical problems. So, don’t worry about this. Be optimistic and every problem has a solution. Practice more and more definitely you will crack the writing task as other modules.

WRONG PERCEPTIONS

Writing is subjective marking.Same myths that most of the students have:
*If examiner is not in a good mood, he/she will not give bands.
*Examiner of European countries give fewer bands to Asian students.
*Lady examiners give lesser bands than gents.

NOTE: Band score is given to what you have written, not to you as a student. If you have a good command over English, you will surely score a higher band.

Each essay is marked with four different criteria, which share equal proportion of the overall band score.
